This page describes briefly the management of the environment within Organotechnie activities.

OUR BUSINESS

Organotechnie is a private company based in France and active worldwide.
Historically Organotechnie was founded at the beginning of the 20th century to develop medicines obtained from various animal tissues.
As from the end of the 70's the activities turned to the production of Magnesium Pidolate (a salt of the Amino Acid Pidolic) and the development of Protein Hydrolysates aimed at the microbiological industries.
The products are manufactured from natural, renewable resources (such as soy flour, milk, etc..) and show good biodegradability.
They are also non toxic and non hazardous materials.
Organotechnie business is highly specialized with customers mainly in pharmaceutical, food, feed and cosmetics companies.

EXECUTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

Organotechnie policy is committed to meeting the needs of customers in an environmentally sound and sustainable manner, through continuous improvements in environmental performances.
Organotechnie Chairman and the members of the executive committee approve the policy for environmental issues and QA/QC/ENV department is responsible for its implementation. Support to the business is provided by external adivisors.

ACTION EFFECTIVE PRIOR TO THE ISO 14001 CERTIFICATION

In 1997 the oil-based energy sources throughout the site were replaced by natural gas systems therefore dramatically reducing Sox emissions.

The graph below shows the reduction in load per tonne of production since year 2000 (expressed as % of the 2000  kg / Tonne figures)

COD and BOD: reduction was achieved by better control of processes and better handling of wastes. All effluents are subsequently treated in municipal works.

Wastes: almost 100 % of the wastes are recycled in particular using methanization.

Water: Reduction is due to increased recirculation and improved maintenance of the water network.

Energy: Reduction is achieved through improved process efficiency.

Ozone depleting gases (CFC's): 99 % of on site refrigeration and air conditioning systems are CFC free.(year 2004)
